Certification

IFMA offers two certification programs designed specifically for facility

professionals.  IFMA's certification is structured to tap into the experience and educational backgrounds of professional competence.  The certification program tests the knowledge and experience of facility management professionals through a comprehensive exam that focuses on nine main competency areas.

IFMA's Facility Management Professional (FMP) designation is a knowledge-based credential that will help to accelerate an FM's transition into the profession. By

earning your FMP credential, you will improve your knowledge, enhance your skills, and gain immediate credibility with employers, clients and peers.

New to IFMA is the recently offered Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP) Program. This new certification is for anyone

seeking knowledge and creditability in areas related to sustainability and those looking for a higher level of sustainable performance in buildings and maintenance. The program has three main focus areas.

  1. Strategy & Alignment for Sustainable Facility Management
  2. Managing Sustainable Facilities
  3. Operating Sustainable Facilities
